سرانا sarānā H v. a. (dakh.) See سراهنا sarāhnā.

سبهاپت सभापति sabhā-pati S s. m. Chief or president of an assembly.

سنتوکهي संतोषी santokh̤-ī S (or santosh̤-ī), adj. Patient, contented.

سيمرغ sī-murg̠ẖ P (of the size of 30 birds) s. m. A fabulous bird, a griffin. See عنقا aﻌnḳā.

سينکنا senknā H v. a. To toast, parch, warm be- fore, or with, any thing hot, to foment, to in- cubate (eggs).

سالار sālār P s. m. A chief, head, leader, general or commander (of an army), prince, captain. سالارقافله sālār-i-ḳāfila, The chief of a caravan, leader of a troop.

سہالي suhālī H s. f. Bread (or cakes) fried in butter.

سبحه subʼḥa A s. m. A rosary. سبحه گردان subʼḥa-gardān, part. act. Turning or revolving the rosary. سبحه گرداني subʼḥa-gardān-ī, s. f. The turning or counting of the rosary.

سيد saiyid A (verbal adj. from سود) s. m. 1. A lord, a prince. 2. A descendant of Ḥusain, who was the grandson of the prophet Muḥammad. سيد الانام saiyidu-l-anām (the prince of men and of all living creatures), سيد البشر saiyidu-l-bashar (the prince of mortals), سيد المرسلين يا انبيا saiyidu-l-mursalīn or -ambiyā (the head of the apostles, or prophets) are epithets of Muḥammad.

سانکر sānkar S̱. s. f. 1. (शृंखला) A chain. 2. (शृंखल) A kind of female ornament. 3. (from संकीर्ण) A strait, a narrow lane. 4. (met.) Difficulty. 5. adj. Tight, narrow, close, strait, strict.
