سعبان shaﻌbān A (from شعب) s. m. The eighth Arabian month. (The 14th day of it is the festival called برات barāt, q. v.: on this day, an angel is supposed to examine a record, on which is written the names of the living).

سنہرا sunahrā S̱. adj. Golden. See سونہلا sonahlā.

سکرانا sakrānā S̱. v. a. 1. (संकीर्ण) To straiten, to deprive of necessary room. 2. (स्वीकारण or caus. of سکارنا) To cause to accept (bill, &c.).

سينا sīnā P s. m. Breast: see سينه sīna.

سروج सरोज सरः A lake, and ज Born saroj S. s. m. The lotus.

سوتيا ڐاه sautiyā-ḍāh S̱. or -dāh (from सपत्नी A rival wife, and दाह Burning) s. f. Malice of a rival wife.

سرانجام sar-anjām P (سر and انجام End) s. m. 1. Apparatus, utensils, furniture, goods and chattels, stores, materials, ingredients, requisites. 2. Conclusion, end, accomplishment. سرانجام کرنا sar-anjām karnā, To accomplish, to finish: to prepare. سرانجام هونا sar-anjām honā, To be accomplished or finished.

سہج सहज sahaj S adj. Easy, not difficult, fa- cile; adv. Easily. سہج سبهاوهي sahaj-subhāw- hī, With natural ease.

سنبل sumbul P s. m. 1. Spikenard (to which the locks of a mistress are compared). سنبل خطاٴي sumbul-i-ḵẖat̤āʼī, Angelica. سنبل هندي sumbul-i-hindī, s. m. The spikenard (Valeriana jatamansi. Roxb.). 2. The hyacinth. سنبلستان sumbul- istān, Hyacinth-garden or -bed.

سرپتا sar-patā S̱. (शरपत्र) s. m. A kind of reed, or reed-grass. (Sac- charum procerum: Roxb.).
