سادهہ sādh S̱. 1. (साधु) adj. Virtuous, righteous, good, holy. 2. s. m. A religious person, a faḳīr. 3. (श्रद्धा) s. f. Desire. See ساد.

سريکا sarīkā H or sarekā, adj. Like, resem- bling; so.

سمرن sumran S̱. or sumaran, or sumiran, 1. (or smaraṇ for स्मरण) s. m. f. Remembrance (continual theme), mentioning. 2. (for स्मरणी) s. f. A small rosary, or string of beads.

سينٿها senṭhā H s. m. A kind of reed (of which moṛhās are made), reed- grass. (Saccharum sara: Roxb.).

سيت set S̱. 1. (श्वेत) adj. White. سيتديپ set-dīp (श्वेतद्वीप) The white island or a minor division of the universe so called, and supposed by Wilford to be Britain. 2. (for सेतु) s. m. A bridge.

سيلي selī S̱. s. f. for سہيلي sahelī, q. v.

سورداس sūr-dās S (सूरदास) n. prop. Name of a Hindī poet and singer who was blind; hence a blind man is called sūrdās.

سوغاتي saug̠ẖāt-ī P. adj. 1. Given as a present or memorial, fit for a present; hence, 2. Rare.

سا sā P. S̱. 1. adj. (Pers. سان or Sans. समान or सदृश) Like, resembling (most commonly by way of adjunct like the English) ish; so کالاسا kālā-sā, Blackish. 2. (for s. शः) An adjunct the meaning of which is at times scarcely perceptible, though often it seems to give intensity to the preceding word; as بـہت سا bahut-sā, Much, many, very much. 3. (or ساي) part. in compos. (from سودن or ساييدن) Rubbing, wearing, polishing, anointing, drawing.
