سليش श्लेष slesh̤ S s. m. A pun, a double meaning, an equivoque in writing or speaking; as, کيکرپاکرتارجامن پهل سا املا سيوکدم کچنارپيپل رتي تونتج Kīkar pākar tār, jāman phalsā āmilā; seʼo kadam kachnār, pīpal rattī tūna taj. (This seems to be a catalogue of trees; it also means) God has been kind to you; that which you de- sired is obtained; adore his footsteps; silly woman! leave not your lover for a moment.

سودرني sūdr-anī शूद्राणी S̱. s. f. A female of the (سودر) sūdr tribe or cast.

سالي sālī श्याली S̱. s. f. Sister-in-law, wifeʼs sister, especially younger sister.

سکل sukal S̱. (or sukl शुक्ल) adj. 1. White. سکل پچهہ sukal pachchh̤ (शुक्लपक्ष) s. m. The light half of a month, the fifteen days from new to full moon. 2. A title of Brāhmaṇs. ¶ sak- kal, s. f. (dakh.) A chain: see سانکر sānkar.

سلوپ salūp स्वल्प S̱. s. m. A little.

سپر sipar P s. f. A shield, target. سپرانداز sipar-andāz, adj. Throwing away the shield, surrendering. سپرداري sipar-dār-ī, s. f. Pro- tecting, shielding.

سمع samﻌ A (Heb. ) s. m. 1. The ear. 2. Hearing. A. سمک (from سمک Heb. To prop, to sup- port, to raise) 1. samk, s. m. Height, depth, profundity. 2. samak, A fish on which the earth is supposed to rest; hence, ازسمک تا سماک From the bottom of the abyss to the pinnacle of heaven. 3. A fish in general. 4. The sign Pisces of the zodiack.

سرگوشي sargosh-ī P s. f. Whispering.

سہجنا sahajnā शोभांजन S̱. A tree the root of which supplies the place of horseradish. (Gui- landina morunga: Linn. Hyperanthera mo- runga: Roxb.). P. S̱. سہرا sihrā (comp. of سه Three, and هار Gar- land, &c.) s. m. A chaplet, a garland, wreath (worn on the head by a bridegroom and bride at the marriage ceremony).

سوهنا sohnā S̱. 1. v. n. (शोभन) To become, to beseem. 2. v. a. (शोधन) To weed.
