سہايک सहायक sahāyak S s. m. A succourer, aider, ally.

سميرو सुमेरु sumeru S s. m. The sacred mountain Meru, allegorically represented as composed of gold and gems, and the residence of the gods: (in astronomical works) the north pole. S. سميل सुमेल (सु Good, well, and मेल from r. मिल Meet, unite) sumel, adj. Suitable, af- fable, of pleasing manners.

سکهر sikhar S̱. s. m. 1. (शिक्य) Three or more strings tied together forming a support to hang any thing on; the cords of a bahangī, in which the baskets rest. 2. (शिखर) Top, summit, peak, pinnacle.

سہالي suhālī H s. f. Bread (or cakes) fried in butter.

سلک silk A s. m. A thread, string; order, se- ries, train, a road.

سفوف safūf A (from سفّ To take a medicine in a state of powder and dry) s. m. A medicine taken dry and unmixed, a powder (in opposi- tion to an electuary).

سوريه सूर्य्य sūrya S s. m. The sun. सूर्य्यग्रहण sūrya-grahaṇ, s. m. Eclipse of the sun. سوريبنسي sūrya-bansī (सूर्य्यवंशी) s. m. 1. Descendant of the sun. 2. Name of a tribe of Ksh̤atriyas who claim descent from the sun. سوريودي सूर्योदय sūryodaya, s. m. Sunrise.

سمند samand P s. m. 1. A horse of noble breed, a steed, courser. 2. Bay or chesnut (colour of a horse).

سروش sarosh P (prop. surosh) s. m. 1. An angel. 2. A voice from heaven. 3. The seventeenth day of the solar month.

سہويا sahwaiyā S̱. (from سہنا) s. m. A sufferer.
