سجيلا saj-īlā S̱. (from سج) adj. Well-shaped, hand- some, graceful.

سانکري sānkrī S̱. s. f. 1. (शृंखला) A chain. 2. (शृंखल) A kind of female ornament. 3. (from संकीर्ण) A strait, a narrow lane. 4. (met.) Difficulty. 5. adj. Tight, narrow, close, strait, strict.

سنگر संगर sangar S s. m. Lines, intrenchment.

سينچنا sīnchnā सेचन S̱. v. a. To irrigate, to water.

سامني sāmne S̱. (from سامنا) postpos. or adv. In front, fronting, before, confronting, opposite.

سوهانا sūhānā S̱. v. n. (dakh.) See سوهنا sohnā or سہانا suhānā.

سونٿهہ sonṭh शुंठी S̱. s. f. Dry ginger; (met.) a miser. سونٿهہ کي سي ناس لي رهنا sonṭh kī sī nās le rahnā, To endure, to wait patiently, to suffer. سونٿهہ کي ناس نه لينا sonṭh kī nās na lenā, To be very covetous.

سدا sadā सदा S̱. adv. Always. سداپهل sadā- phal, 1. s. m. A fabled fruit, eating of which confers long life, &c. 2. adj. Constantly bearing fruit (epithet of a tree). 3. A kind of lemon. سداسو सदाशिव sadā-siva, A name of Mahādeva: see سو siva. سداسـہ‍اگن sadā- suhāgan, s. f. 1. The name of a bird (Trogon dilectus: Buch. MSS.). 2. Name of a flower (Hibiscus phœniceus: the white variety). 3. A kind of faḳīr dressed like a woman.

سس sas S or sasi (शशि) s. m. 1. The moon. 2. The sky, the heavens.
