سواس sūʼās H s. m. A kind of rice.

ساتوان sāt-wāṅ सप्तम S̱. adj. Seventh. S. ساتوک सात्विक (from सत्व) sātwik, adj. Relating to, or proceeding from, the Satwa quality (see under رجوگن rajo-guṇ), sincere, good, true, gentle, amiable, &c. S̱. H. ساتون مون سرانا sātoṅ mūṅ sarānā (dakh.) To praise excessively.

سوانگ sawāng S̱. or swāng (समांग or स्व Own, and अंग Body) s. m. Mimickry, acting, imitation, disguise, sham. سوانگ لانا swāng- lānā, To imitate, &c.

سند sanad A s. f. 1. Signature, a deed, a grant, a diploma, the seal of a magistrate, a warrant. 2. A prop; any thing on which one leans, or is supported; a document or proof, argument, au- thority, certificate. 3. Relation, connexion. سند مطابق sanad-mut̤ābiḳ, The counterpart of a grant, &c. the order to put it in execution.

سدرة sidrat A s. Name of a tree (especially, in paradise). سدرة المنتـہي sidratu-l-muntahī, A station in the seventh heaven, a tree of know- ledge in paradise. See سدره sidra.

سبسبانا sabsabānā H v. a. See سرسرانا sursurānā.

سرانا sirānā S̱. 1. (from शीत) v. n. To cool. 2. v. a. To make cold, to cool. 3. (r. सृ Go) To set afloat, to float, to set off, to despatch. 4. s. m. (dakh.) Place of the head; see سرهانا sir-hānā.

سنگترا sangtarā H s. m. See سنگ تره sangtara under p. سنگ.

سامرتهہ sāmarth सामर्थ्य S̱. s. m. Ability, power.

سميٿ sameṭ H (from سميٿنا sameṭnā) s. f. 1. An astringent, a medicine used by women (ad constringendam vulvam). 2. Contraction.
