سنگهني singhinī S̱. (from सिंह) s. f. A lioness.

سيہنڐ sehunḍ सीहुण्ड S̱. s. m. A species of Euphorbia, or indeed a general name for plants of that kind: Hunter. The milk hedge plant (Euphorbia antiquorum, &c. Wilson).

سروا sarwā S̱. 1. s. m. (शराव) A cup. 2. (श्याल) Wifeʼs brother, brother-in-law. 3. Excelling.

سياست siyāsat A (from سوس) s. f. 1. Govern- ment, administration of justice. 2. Punish- ment, pain, chastisement, pang, agony. سياست کرنا siyāsat karnā, To chastise, to punish. سياست مين هونا siyāsat meṅ honā, To be in pain.

سفيدار safed-ār P s. m. The name of a wood, the white poplar-tree. (Meninski).

سيندهيا sendhiyā H s. m. 1. Poison. 2. s̱. (from سيندهہ) A thief making a sendh, q. v., a house- breaker. 3. Name of a Mahārātta tribe (pro- bably so named as originating on the banks of the river Sindh).

ساکن sākin A (part. act. of سکن Heb. To rest, to dwell). 1. s. m. An inhabitant (Pers. plur. ساکنان). 2. adj. Quiet, peaceable. 3. Quiescent (letter).

سکوار sukwār सुकुमार S̱. adj. Delicate, feeble.

ستياناس सत्यानाश सत्या Veracity, sinceri- ty, and नाश Annihilation satyānās S. s. m. (A term of imprecation, signifying) Depravation, destruction. ستياناس جانا يا هونا satyānās-jānā, or -honā, To be the depravation, destruction, ruin, &c. (of any one or any thing), to be de- stroyed or ruined. ستياناس کرنا satyānās karnā, To make the ruin, destruction, or mischief (of any one or any thing).

سادهو sādhū साधु S̱. 1. adj. Pious, virtuous, good, honest. 2. s. m. A merchant. 3. A kind of mendicant.
