زاني zānī P (part. act. of زنا Heb. To commit adultery) s. m. An adulterer, a whoremonger.

زنبوره ẕambūra P s. m. 1. A hornet, large bee. 2. The point of a musical stringed instrument called in Hindī کنگري. 3. A small gun. زنبورچي zambūr-chī, A fusileer.

زمره zumra A (from زمر Heb. To sing, to play on a flute, &c.: and, perhaps, so named from its buzzing noise) s. m. A troop, a group, crowd, multitude.

زيارت ziyārat A (from زور) s. f. Pilgrimage, vi- siting.

زبون zabūn P adj. Bad, ill, evil, faulty, unlucky, wicked.

زير zīr P s. f. A fine soft sound, the smallest string of a lute, &c., the treble (in musick). P. S̱. زيرا (or زيره Sans. जीर or जीरक) zīrā, s. m. Cumin-seed. (Cuminum cyminum).

زنا zinā A (from Heb. To fornicate) s. f. Adultery, fornication. زنا زاده zinā-zāda, A bastard. زنا کار zinā-kār, s. m. An adulterer, a fornicator. زنا کاري zinākār-ī, s. f. Fornica- tion, adultery, harlotry.

زيد zaid A s. m. 1. Increasing, adding, aug- mentation. 2. n. prop. A fictitious name (as John Nokes, or Thomas Stiles, in English).

زخود رفتگي zi-ḵẖụd-raftagī P s. f. See ازخود رفتگي az-ḵẖụd-raftagī, under از az.

زميني zamīn-ī P adj. Earthy, terrestrial.
