ردا ridā A s. f. 1. A cloak or mantle (worn by Dervises). 2. An upper garment of fine linen unsewed (or sewed, if made of other cloth), reaching to the middle of the leg; any kind of cloak put on when going out.

رتالو ratālū रक्तालु S̱. s. m. A yam. (Dioscorea).

راهنا rāhnā H v. a. To roughen a millstone (by digging little pits in its surface with a small pickaxe).

راپي rāpī H s. (dakh.) Shoemakerʼs knife.

رچنا rachnā S̱. (रचन r. रच Prepare, form, make) v. n. 1. To be made, to be created, to be prepared. 2. To be set to work, to be em- ployed, to be about (a business). 3. To stain, to colour. 4. To love, to like. 5. To keep time in musick. 6. To penetrate. 7. To pre- destinate. 8. v. a. To make, to form, to invent, to prepare, to compose, to perform. 9. ¶ (for रचना) s. f. Forming, composing, creating, making, invention. 10. Created thing, work, workmanship.

راس rās H s. f. 1. Reins of a bridle. 2. See اگاهي ugāhī. 3. Adoption. راس بٿهانا يا لينا rās-biṭhānā or -lenā, v. a. To adopt a son. راس آنا rās-ānā (perhaps, for راست آنا rāst ānā, see under راست) To be agreeable.

رجوگن रजोगुण rajo-guṇ S s. m. One of the three characters or dispositions assigned by the Hindūs to the human mind. They are 1. सत्व satwa, Goodness, benevolence. 2. रजः raja, Passion or love of sensual enjoyment or of pleasure. 3. तमः tama, Darkness, ignorance, delusion, promptitude to the vindictive passions. These are all exhibited in the Hindū Trinity: in Brahmā, raja prevails; in Vishnu, satwa; and in Siva, tama.

رکاب rikāb A (from رکب) s. f. 1. A stirrup. 2. Equipage, train. رکابدار rikāb-dār, A compa- nion, a stirrup-holder. رکاب دوال rikāb-doʼāl, A stirrup-leather.

رزال rizāl A. (for رذال ruẕāl, from رذل) adj. Mean, worthless. A. H. رزالپن rizāl-pan, s. m. Meanness, baseness. A. H. رزال پنا rizāl-panā, s. m. Meanness, baseness.

روا rawā H s. m. 1. Gold or silver filings. 2. A grain or particle of sand, dust, gunpowder, &c.
