روگ रोग rog S s. m. Sickness, disease.

ربيع الاول rabīʼuﻌ-ḷ-auwal A The third month, and ربيع الاخر rabīʼuﻌ-lʼāḵẖir or ربيع الثاني rabīʼuﻌ-s̤- s̤ānī, The fourth month of the Muhammadan year. The 9th and 12th days of the former are festivals.

روجها rūjhā H adj. (An animal, or bird more par- ticularly) much teased by the insect روج rūj. S. روچک रोचक (r. रुच Shine, please) ro- chak, adj. A stomachick, something taken to excite appetite. S. روچهـ रूक्ष (r. रुक्ष or रूक्ष Be rough, severe) rūchh̤, 1. adj. Stern. 2. s. m. A violator.

رياضت riyāẓat A (from راض Heb. To exer- cise, to tame, to run) s. f. Abstinence, austerity, abstemiousness. (Plur. رياضات).

روٴيدگي roʼīdagī P (from رويدن To grow) s. f. Vegetation, growth of a plant.

رعب ruﻌb A (or raﻌb) s. m. Terrifying, fear, ter- rour, trembling with fear; awe.

رکن rukn A s. m. 1. A pillar, a prop, aid, support, a grandee. 2. Foot of a verse. (Plur. ارکان).

رولنا rolnā H v. a. 1. To roll, to plane, to polish, to smooth. 2. To select, to pick. Saudā says: که جسکي خاک سي ليتي تهي خلق موتي رول Kijisḳī ḵẖāk se letī thī ḵẖalḳ motī rol, From the earth of which people picked out pearls.

روشن roshan P or raushan, adj. Light, splendid, bright, shining, luminous, manifest, conspicuous. روشن چوکي roshan chaukī, s. f. 1. A kind of serenade, with pipes and small tabours, round the apartment of a great man when he retires to rest. 2. The same kind of musick used on other occasions. روشن دان roshan-dān, s. m. A small hole for admitting light. روشن دل roshan-dil, adj. Enlightened in mind. روشن دماغ roshan-damāg̠ẖ, Snuff. روشن راي roshan- rāʼe, adj. Of enlightened understanding. روشن ضمير roshan-ẓamīr, adj. Enlightened in mind.

رتن ratan S or ratna (रत्न) s. m. 1. A jewel, gem, a precious stone. 2. The pupil of the eye. رتن جٿت ratn-jaṭit, Set with jewels. رتن سنگهاسن ratna-singhāsun, A throne adorned with precious stones.
