ريگستان reg-istān P (ريگ Sand, and ستان or استان Place) s. m. A sandy place, a strand.

راني rānī राज्ञी S̱. s. f. A (Hindū) queen or princess.

راگ राग rāg S s. m. (in dakh. f.) 1. A mode in musick (there being six in number), musick, song, tune. 2. Anger, passion. 3. Love. راگ چهانا rāg chhānā, v. n. To be in concert. راگ رنگ rāg-rang, s. m. Musick. راگ ساگر rāg- sāgar, s. m. A song composed of many rāgs or musical modes. راگ مالا rāg-mālā, s. f. The name of a treatise on musick (being nothing more than a collection of pictures, exhibiting the traditional history of the primary and sub- ordinate modes, and the subjects appropriated to each).

رنجن ranjan H s. (dakh. i. q. بڙاگهڙا) A large water-pot or pitcher (?).

راهب rāhib A s. m. A monk. (Pers. pl. راهبان).

رنگڙهـ ran-gaṛha S̱. (रण Battle, and گڙها for गर्त्त A hole, a pit) s. m. Lines of entrenchment.

رقوب ruḳūb A s. m. Expecting, watching, contemplating the stars, waiting.

رينک renk H (from رينکنا) s. f. Braying (as, of an ass).

رسواد raswād S̱. (comp. of रस and वाद Quar- rel) adj. Exciting quarrels.
