روح rūḥ A (Heb. ) s. f. Soul, spirit. روح افزا rūḥ-afzā, Increasing the spirit or life. روح الامين rūḥu-l-amīn, The angel Gabriel. روح القدس rūḥu-l-ḳuds, The holy spirit, the angel Gabriel. روح الله rūḥu-l-lāh, The spirit of God, Jesus Christ. (Plur. ارواح).

راس rās S 1. (रास) s. m. A festival among the cowherds, including songs and dances, es- pecially the circular dance as performed by Kr̤ish̤ṇa and the Gopīs or cowherdesses.

راتب rātib A s. m. Daily allowance of food (to animals, particularly dogs and elephants), al- lowance, portion, provision.

روکها rūkhā S̱. (रुक्ष or रूक्ष) adj. Dry, plain, rough, harsh, unkind, unfriendly, pure, simple, unseasoned. روکها سوکها rūkhā-sūkhā, adj. Plain, blunt, harsh (words, &c.).

رهايش rahāʼịsh H (from رهنا) s. f. Stay, delay, halt, abode, residence.

رهزني rah-zan-ī H s. f. Highway-robbery.

رس ras P (from رسيدن) part. act. used in compos. Arriving, happening, touching at, causing to arrive, one to whom (a thing) arrives; as داد رس dād-ras, An administerer of justice. فرياد رس faryād-ras, One whom lamentation reaches, i. e. a protector, a preserver.
