ربڙي rabṛī H s. f. Thick milk.

رج रजः raj S 1. s. f. Dust; the farina of flowers. 2. Menses. رج منڐت raj-manḍit, Covered with dust. 3. s. m. Quality or pro- perty of passion, which produces sensual de- sire, worldly coveting, pride, and falsehood, and is the cause of pain.

رسکپور raskapūr S̱. (रसकर्पूर i. e. रस Quick- silver, and कर्पूर Camphor, from its resem- blance to this drug) s. m. Corrosive sublimate, or a preparation of mercury similar to it, but perhaps milder; at least, if we may trust to the dose assigned by Eastern physicians, as stated in the Maḵẖzanu-l-adwiya, i. e. from 1 3/4 to 3 1/2 grains. To prepare it, quicksilver is triturated with red bole (see گيرو), marine salt, and a substance containing vitriolick acid. The Bhāva Prakāsa orders alum, the Maḵẖzanu-l-adwiya vitriol of zinc or copper; but the Sukha- bodha directs sulphur: and, in the last case, the mass is to be moistened with the juice of the bark of the amrā-tree (Spondias mangifera). It is then sublimed in close earthen vessels.

رقم raḳam A (a. raḳm, from رقم Heb. To mark, to embroider) 1. s. f. A mark, sign, writing, hand-writing, character. 2. A mode of arith- metical notation, chiefly taken from the initials of the Arabic words denoting the numbers. 3. One character in the notation above described. 4. Arithmetick. 5. Manner, kind, method, sort, article (of goods). 6. A royal edict. 7. An embroidered ornamented garment. رقم کرنا ra- ḳam karnā, To mark down, to write. رقم هونا raḳam honā, To be written.

رزق rizḳ A s. m. Food, wealth, a pension, al- lowance, support, subsistence, daily bread.

راوي rāwī A (part. act. of روي) s. m. An historian, the author of a fable, romance, fiction, &c. nar- rator, relater. (Plur. راويين).

روکهڙ rūkh-aṛ S̱. s. m. A sort of devotee.

ريسمان resmān P s. f. String, cord, thread, rope. (Sans. रश्मि).

رايت rāyat A (from رأي Heb. To see; be- cause it is seen by all or is conspicuous) s. f. A standard.
