رکاب rikāb P s. f. A dish, a plate. رکاب دار rikāb-dār, Keeper of the dishes.

رسن rasan A s. m. String, cord, rope. (Plur. ارسان arsān). رسن باز rasan-bāz, A ropedancer. رسن ساز rasan-sāz, Ropemaker. S. رسنا रसना (r. रस Taste) rasanā, s. f. The tongue.

رعد raﻌd A (Heb. Tremour) s. m. Thunder.

رات rāt रात्रि S̱. s. f. Night. رات تهوڙي اورسانگ بـﮩت rāt thoṛī aur sāng bahut, is applied to express a hurry of business with little time to perform it in; also great expense with a small income. Mīr says:-- بن جو کچهـ بن سکي جواني مين رات تهوڙي هي اوربـﮩت هي سانگ Ban jo kuchh ban sake jawānī meṇ; rāt thoṛī hai aur bahut hai sāng, Acquire whatever you can in the season of youth: the task is arduous and the time short. (Ars longa vita brevis. Hippoc.). آدهي رات ādhī rāt, Midnight. راتون رات rātoṅ rāt, In the middle of the night.

رولانا rolānā S̱. (caus. of رونا ronā) v. a. To cause to weep.

روکهڙ rūkh-aṛ S̱. s. m. A sort of devotee.

رهس rahs H s. m. Trampling, treading under foot.

روان rawāṅ P (part. pres. of رفتن) 1. adj. Going, moving, flowing, running, fluent, current. 2. s. m. Text. 3. Reading. 4. Life, soul. روان کرنا rawāṅ karnā, v. a. 1. To set agoing. 2. To despatch, to forward, to send. 3. To make current.

رن ऋण r̤iṇ S s. f. 1. Borrowing, debt. 2. Negative quantity in algebra.

رسل rasl A s. m. Sending news. ¶ rusul or rusl, plur. (of رسول) Prophets, messengers. رسل رسايل rasl-rasāʼịl, Epistolary correspondence.
