رنجش ranjish P (from رنجيدن) s. f. Grief, af- fliction. See رنج ranj.

رونگٿا rūngṭā रोम S̱. s. m. The short hairs of the body. رونگٿي کهڙي هونا rūngṭe khaṛe honā, v. n. The standing of the hairs on end (from cold, fear, &c.).

راٴي rāʼī राजिका S̱. s. f. A kind of mustard seed with small grains. (Sinapis ramosa). راٴي کاٴي rāʼī-kā-ʼī, Broken to small pieces or atoms.

روٴين roʼīn P s. m. Brass, bell-metal. روٴين تن roʼīn-tan, Brazen-bodied; a hero, an epithet of Isfandyār, whose body was impenetrable to weapons.

رصاص raṣāṣ A (from رصّ raṣṣa, He joined or united firmly. Heb. To beat, to impinge; which may produce either consolidation or fracture) s. m. 1. Tin. 2. Lead. ¶ raṣṣāṣ, A tinman.

راون रावण rāvaṇ S s. m. Son of Visravā and Kaikasī, and sovereign of Lankā (Ceylon), who carried way Sītā, and lost his life and kingdom to her husband Rāmachandra, q. v. A.P. راوند rāwand, s. Rhubarb. راوندچيني rāwand- i-chīnī, Chinese rhubarb. See ريوند rewand.

رسم rasm A (from رسم rasama, Heb. He marked or wrote) s. f. 1. Custom. 2. Law. 3. Model, plan. 4. A game among children, the laws of which are, that one puts a question to another, who is obliged to reply in words which do not contain either of the three letters س ر or م which compose the word رسم. If one of these should be found in his answer, he is condemned, by way of penalty, to imitate the voice of any animal which may be directed by the questioner.

رواٴي roʼāʼī S̱. (from رونا) s. m. Lamentation.

رهس rahas S̱. (or rahasya रहस्य) 1. s. m. Wag- gery, merriment. 2. adj. Secret, private (little used).

روغني raug̠ẖan-ī P adj. Greasy, oily, buttery.
