رگ rag P s. f. A vein, a fibre. رگ اترنا rag utarnā, v. n. 1. To be appeased. 2. To have a rupture. رگدار rag-dār, 1. adj. Veined. 2. s. m. Cloth in which the threads are uneven, so that some appear like veins. 3. A wicked brat. رگ ريشه rag resha, s. m. 1. Every vein, veins and fibres. 2. Every thing, all. رگ زن rag-zan, s. m. A surgeon, a bleeder, a phlebotomist. رگ چڙهنا rag chaṛhnā, To be obstinate, pettish or proud. رگ گردن rag-i-gardan, Pride. رگ مرنا rag-marnā, v. n. To lose virility, to become impotent.

روايت riwāyat A (from روي) s. f. A history, narrative, tale, fiction, fable.

رفضي rafẓ-i A s. m. A heretick. See رافضي rāfiẓī or شيعه shīʼaﻌ.

رت ऋतु r̤itu S (vulg. rut) s. f. Season, weather. The Hindūs divide the year into six seasons; viz. वसंत vasanta, ग्रीष्म grīsh̤ma, वर्षा varsh̤ā, शरद् sarad, हिम hima, and शिशिर sisira.

رماني rummān-ī A adj. Belonging to or resem- bling the pomegranate.

رستم rustam P n. prop. One of the twelve cham- pions of Persia. His combat with Isfandyār is famous in the east; it lasted two days: and, as the brazen body of his enemy was proof against his arrows, he at last killed him with his mace. He was son of Zāl, who was son of Sām, son of Narīmān. He was general to Kaikāʼūs, and considered by the Persians des- cended from Māmūn, son of Benjamin, son of Jacob. He overcame Afrāsiyāb, king of Tur- kistān, who was joined by the Indians and Tartars: nevertheless, he fell into disgrace with his master, principally on account of his rejecting the religion of Zoroaster; and, it was upon this occasion that he killed Kaikāʼūsʼs son Isfandyār above mentioned. He was killed by the wound of an arrow in an engagement with Bahman (or Artaxerxes Longimanus) son of Isfandyār. Hence a hero is called Rustam.

رولانا rolānā S̱. (caus. of رونا ronā) v. a. To cause to weep.
