راست rāst P adj. 1. Right, true, good, just, upright, honest, sincere. 2. Right (opposite to left). 3. Straight, even, level. 4. adv. Ac- tually, certainly. راست آنا rāst ānā, v. n. To regain oneʼs temper, to be set to rights. راست باز rāst-bāz, adj. Honest, upright, righteous, faithful, to be depended on, candid, sincere. راست بازي rāst-bāz-ī, s. f. Fair play, honesty, uprightness, fidelity. راست گفتاري rāst-guf- tār-ī, s. f. Veracity, speaking truth. راست گو rāst-go, adj. Speaking truth. راست گوئي rāst- go-ī, s. f. Speaking truth. راست معامله rāst- muʼāﻌmala, adj. Proper, just, of good actions. راست منا rāst-numā, adj. Appearing true.

راه राहु rāhu S s. m. 1. Typhon, or the dragon that is supposed to devour the sun or moon during an eclipse. 2. The ascending node.

روهني rohan-ī S or rohiṇī (रोहिणी) s. f. 1. The name of the fourth mansion of the moon, comprising Aldebaran and four other stars in Taurus. 2. (in mythology) The wife of Chan- dra or the moon. 3. The daughter of Rohaṇ, wife of Vasudeva and mother of Balarāma.

رستگاري rastagārī P s. f. Salvation, deliverance.

رٿ گهٿ raṭ ghaṭ H s. m. (dakh.) Labour and pains, toil and trouble.

رسکپور raskapūr S̱. (रसकर्पूर i. e. रस Quick- silver, and कर्पूर Camphor, from its resem- blance to this drug) s. m. Corrosive sublimate, or a preparation of mercury similar to it, but perhaps milder; at least, if we may trust to the dose assigned by Eastern physicians, as stated in the Maḵẖzanu-l-adwiya, i. e. from 1 3/4 to 3 1/2 grains. To prepare it, quicksilver is triturated with red bole (see گيرو), marine salt, and a substance containing vitriolick acid. The Bhāva Prakāsa orders alum, the Maḵẖzanu-l-adwiya vitriol of zinc or copper; but the Sukha- bodha directs sulphur: and, in the last case, the mass is to be moistened with the juice of the bark of the amrā-tree (Spondias mangifera). It is then sublimed in close earthen vessels.

رکنا ruknā S̱. (r. रुध Confine) v. n. To stop, to be hindered, to be enclosed, to be prohibited.

رکهن rakhan रक्षण S̱. s. m. Keeping, charge, protection.

راجپوت rāj-pūt राजपुत्र S̱. s. m. 1. A de- scendant of a rājā. 2. The name of a tribe. S̱. P. راجپوتانه rājpūt-āna, adj. Like or belonging to the rājpūts. The province of Ajmeer is so termed.
