روباه robāh P or rūbāh, s. f. A fox. روباه بازي robāh-bāz-ī, s. f. Stratagem, wile, trick, cun- ning, artfulness, deceit, evasion, subterfuge.

رکهنا rakhnā S̱. or rakkhnā (रक्षण r. रक्ष Guard, keep) v. a. To keep, put, place, have, hold, possess, preserve, reserve, save, lay, set, sta- tion, apply, ascribe, impute, esteem, consider, leave, own, stop. رکهـ چهوڙنا rakh chhoṛnā, 1. To place. 2. رباب rabāb P s. m. A kind of violin, a rebeck.

روپنا ropnā S̱. (रोधन r. रुध Shut up, confine) v. a. To defend. See روکنا roknā. P. H. روپوش هونا rū-posh-honā, v. n. To be concealed, to hide oneʼs face. See under رو rū.

رايتا rāʼetā H s. m. Pumkins, &c. pickled in sour milk.

رکمني रुक्मिणी rukmiṇī S s. f. The name of one of Kr̤ish̤ṇaʼs wives, and sister of Rukma.

رعب ruﻌb A (or raﻌb) s. m. Terrifying, fear, ter- rour, trembling with fear; awe.

ريحي rīḥ-ī A. adj. Windy, flatulent.

روشن roshan P or raushan, adj. Light, splendid, bright, shining, luminous, manifest, conspicuous. روشن چوکي roshan chaukī, s. f. 1. A kind of serenade, with pipes and small tabours, round the apartment of a great man when he retires to rest. 2. The same kind of musick used on other occasions. روشن دان roshan-dān, s. m. A small hole for admitting light. روشن دل roshan-dil, adj. Enlightened in mind. روشن دماغ roshan-damāg̠ẖ, Snuff. روشن راي roshan- rāʼe, adj. Of enlightened understanding. روشن ضمير roshan-ẓamīr, adj. Enlightened in mind.
