دنيا dunyā A (either as being near and present or as worthless, from دنو) s. f. 1. The world. 2. (met.) People, goods of the world. دنيا پواتاني پڙنا dunyā po utāne paṛnā (dakh.) To be proud or haughty. دنيا دار dunyā-dār, Worldly, a person of the world. دنيا داري dunyā-dār-ī, s. f. Economy, worldliness, attention to the concerns of the world. دنيا طلبي dunyā-t̤alab-ī, s. f. Seeking the goods of the world, worldliness.

درود گر darod-gar P or durod-gar (i. e. درود Wood, plank, and گر Maker) s. m. A carpenter.

دس दश das S adj. Ten. دسون دسا dasoṅ disā, The ten regions, sides or quarters (of the world, as mentioned under دکپال dik-pāl, q. v.). دسون دوار dasoṅ dwār, The ten passages for the actions of the faculties; namely, the eyes, ears, nostrils, mouth, penis, anus, and crown of the head. (It seems, however, that properly there are only nine, the last not being acknowledged in any Sanskrit works of authority which have been consulted).

درماندگي dar-mānda-gī P (from درمانده) s. f. Misery, distress, penury, misfortune.

درخشاني daraḵẖshān-ī P s. f. Shining, splendour.

دوهر dohar S̱. (from द्वौ Two) s. m. 1. A double sheet. 2. A sheath.

ديه देह deh S s. f. The body. ديه دارنا deh durānā, To conceal or cover the privities. ديه سنبهالنا deh sambhālnā, To keep up oneʼs spirits, to be firm, to recover oneʼs self.

دمن dimn A s. The orbicular dung of cattle.

دسمي दशमी dasamī S s. f. The tenth day of the lunar fortnight. S. دسن दशन (r. दंश् Bite) dasan, s. m. A tooth.

دچهنا दक्षिणा dachh̤iṇā S or dachhnā, s. f. Presents to Brāhmaṇs on solemn or sacrificial occasions, fees.
