دگ दिग् dig S s. m. 1. Quarter, region, tract, side, way, -wards (as, اتردگ uttar-dig, North- wards). The Hindūs reckon ten digs (which are mentioned under دکپال dik-pāl). 2. Point (of the compass).

دکپال दिक् Region, and पाल Preserver dikpāl S. s. m. A guardian deity of one of the ten (दिश् dis) regions or points (of the com- pass: i. e. ब्रह्मा Brahmā, for upwards; अनंत Ananta, for downwards; इन्द्र Indra, for east; अग्नि Agni, for southeast; यम Yama, for south; नैर्ऋत Nairr̤ita, for southwest; वरुण Varuṇa, for west; वायु Vāyu or पवन Pa- vana, for northwest; कुवेर Kuvera, for north; ईशान Īsāna or शिव Siva, for northeast).

دگدگانا digdigānā H v. n. To chatter (as, teeth).
