آستان āstān : آستان āstān P (Sans. स्थान Place, r. ष्ठा Stand) s. m. A threshold, a fakīrʼs residence. آستان بوسي āstān-bos-ī, s. f. Kissing the threshold; paying respects. ستان stān, or استان istān (in compos. signifies) Place.

افطار ift̤ār A (inf. iv. of فطر) s. m. Breaking a fast. افطار کرنا ift̤ār karnā, To break oneʼs fast in the evening after fasting all day, as the Mu- salmāns do during the month of Ramaẓān.
