دهينور dhīṅwar S̱. (धीवर) s. m. A fisherman; name of a cast of fishermen. See دهيمر dhīmar.

دس दश das S adj. Ten. دسون دسا dasoṅ disā, The ten regions, sides or quarters (of the world, as mentioned under دکپال dik-pāl, q. v.). دسون دوار dasoṅ dwār, The ten passages for the actions of the faculties; namely, the eyes, ears, nostrils, mouth, penis, anus, and crown of the head. (It seems, however, that properly there are only nine, the last not being acknowledged in any Sanskrit works of authority which have been consulted).

ديوالي dewālī S̱. (दीपाली from दीप A lamp, and आली A row) s. f. A Hindū festival (ce- lebrated on the day of the new moon of kārtik: when the Hindūs, after bathing in the Ganges, or other river, put on their best attire, perform a srāddha, and at night worship Laksh̤mī. The houses and streets are illuminated all night: and, in Hindūstān, the night is universally spent in gaming).

دهلوانا dhulwānā S̱. (caus. of دهونا) v. a. To cause others to wash.

داخل dāḵẖil A (from دخل) part. act. 1. Entering, penetrating, arriving. 2. (adjectively) Entered, produced. 3. (substantively) Inside, interiour part; within. داخل خارج کرنا dāḵẖil ḵẖārij karnā, To transfer property (by taking out the name of the former proprietor from a deed or register and inserting that of the new). داخل کرنا dāḵẖil karnā, To cause to enter or arrive, to place or fix in; to produce, to include, to insert or introduce. داخل هونا dāḵẖil honā, To enter, to arrive, to penetrate, to belong, to appertain, to be inserted.

دستانه dastāna P s. m. A glove, a gauntlet.

دانه dāna P s. m. A grain, berry, seed, corn, speck, pimple. دانه بدلنا dāna badalnā, v. a. To caress as birds do by joining bills, to bill. دانه بدلول dāna-badlauwal, Billing, caressing as birds do by joining bills. دانه پاني dāna pānī, s. m. Food, victuals, meat and drink. دانه دار dāna-dār, 1. Granulated. 2. Having the ap- pearance of being granulated. 3. Containing grain. دانه دان کرنا dāna dān karnā, To min- gle, confound or destroy. دانه کيش dāna-kesh, s. m. A kind of embroidered neckcloth worn in cold weather over the cloak. S. داني दानी (r. दा Give) dānī, adj. Munificent, liberal, bountiful, charitable, giving.

ديجور daijūr P (compound of داج Darkness, and particle ور) s. m. 1. The night of conjunction of sun and moon. 2. A dark night without moon- light. 3. Every thing black. 4. adj. Dark. (Adopted in Arab. plur. دياجير).

دپدپانا يا دپدپ کرنا dapdapānā H or dapdap- karnā, v. a. To shine.
