دهريچا dharīchā H s. m. The second husband of a Hindū widow among the lower classes. (This connexion, being contrary to the spirit of the Hindū institutions, is formed without any par- ticular ceremony, except marking the brideʼs head with minium).

دهنيا dhaniyā धान्य S̱. s. m. Coriander seed. (Coriandrum sativum). دهنيي کي کهوپري مين پاني پلانا dhaniye kī khoprī meṅ pānī pilānā, v. a. To harass, to disturb.

ديوالي dewālī S̱. (दीपाली from दीप A lamp, and आली A row) s. f. A Hindū festival (ce- lebrated on the day of the new moon of kārtik: when the Hindūs, after bathing in the Ganges, or other river, put on their best attire, perform a srāddha, and at night worship Laksh̤mī. The houses and streets are illuminated all night: and, in Hindūstān, the night is universally spent in gaming).

دهنکنا dhunaknā S̱. (from धनुष् see دهنکي dha- nuk-ī) v. a. To card or comb (cotton).

دوارابتي द्वारावती dwārābatī S s. f. Name of a Hindū holy place on the shore of the western sea, near the mouth of the gulf of Cutch. دوارکا ناتهـ द्वारिकानाथ dwārikā-nāth, Master of dwā- rikā, i. e. Kr̤ish̤ṇa.

دهننتر dhanantar S̱. 1. (धन्वन्तरि) n. prop. The name of a physician in the court of Indra. 2. (धनवत्तर) adj. Powerful, strong.
