خضاب ḵẖiẓāb A (from خضب) s. m. 1. Tinc- ture. 2. Tinging the nails and hair, but par- ticularly the beard. خضاب آهني کرنا ḵẖiẓāb-i-āhanī karnā, To shave the beard.

خرادي ḵẖarād-ī A. (from خراد) s. m. A turner.

خامه ḵẖāma P s. m. A pen, a writing-reed. خامه دان ḵẖāma-dān, s. m. A pen-case.

خندان ḵẖandān P part. Laughing, merry.

خارجي ḵẖārij-ī A s. m. A sect of Muhammadans, who do not reckon Aﻌlī among the legal succes- sours of the prophet. They are the mortal enemies of the Rāfiẓīs or Shīʼaﻌs, who reject

خوباني ḵẖūbānī P s. f. An apricot, or a dried apricot with the kernel of an almond inserted.

خورد ḵẖụrd P 1. adj. Small. خورد سال ḵẖụrd- sāl, adj. Young, of tender years. خورد سالي ḵẖụrd-sāl-ī, Youth. خورد محل ḵẖụrd-maḥall, s. m. The apartments of the concubines of great men. 2. (from خوردن) verbal noun, Eating, drinking.

خوار ḵẖẉār P 1. adj. Poor, distressed, deserted, abandoned, friendless, wretched, contemptible, abject, ruined. 2. part. act. (from خواردن) in compos. Eating, devouring, eater, drinking, drinker; suffering, sufferer.

خدمت ḵẖidmat A s. f. Service, attendance, em- ployment, ministry, office, appointment, duty, use. (Arab. plur. خدمات ḵẖidmāt). خدمت کرنا ḵẖidmat karnā, 1. To serve, to attend, to wait on. 2. (met.) To satirize, to beat. خدمتگار ḵẖidmat-gār, s. m. A butler, a servant, attend- ant. خدمتگاري ḵẖidmat-gār-ī, s. f. Attendance, service, ministry. A. P. خدمتگذاري ḵẖidmat-guẕār-ī, s. f.
