خيمه ḵẖaima A or ḵẖīma (from خام) s. m. A tent, pavilion. خيمه دوز ḵẖīma-doz (خيمه and the part. act. of دوختن To sew) A tent-maker. خيمه کرنا ḵẖaima karnā, To encamp. خيمه گاه ḵẖīma-gāh, s. f. A camp. د

خليفه ḵẖalīfa A (from خلف Heb. To pass over or beyond; to succeed or follow) s. m. 1. A successour, a sovereign, particularly applied to the successours of Muhammad. 2. (in Hind.) Cooks, tailors, &c. are called ḵẖalīfa. 3. A fencing-master. 4. A monitor (as a senior boy at school becomes).

خوانسامان ḵẖẉān-sāmān P s. m. A house-steward.

خبط ḵẖabt̤ A s. m. 1. Making a mistake. 2. Madness, insanity.

خو ḵẖo P or ḵẖū, s. f. Habit, custom, disposition, nature. خوگر يا پذير يا گرفته ḵẖo-gar or -pazīr or -girifta, adj. Accustomed, habituated. خوڐالنا ḵẖo ḍālnā, To habituate, to adopt a habit, to introduce a custom, to accustom.

خطبه ḵẖut̤ba A s. m. A sermon or oration de- livered after divine service every Friday, in which the preacher blesses Muhammad, his successours, and the reigning sovereign.

خواصي ḵẖawāṣṣ-ī A. s. m. The place where one sits behind a great man upon an elephant.

خوراکي ḵẖụrāk-ī P s. f. Daily allowance of food or of money to purchase it, subsistence-money, board-wages.

خواري ḵẖẉār-ī P 1. s. f. Baseness, meanness, contemptibleness, vileness, abjectness, distress. 2. in compos. Eating, drinking; suffering.

خامش ḵẖāmush P adj. See خاموش ḵẖāmosh.
