حرمت ḥurmat A (from حرم) s. f. 1. Dignity, character. 2. Chastity, honour. 3. Reverence, esteem. حرمت توڙنا ḥurmat toṛnā, To disgrace. حرمت دينا ḥurmat denā, 1. To bestow ho- nour, exalt, dignify. 2. To lose oneʼs charac- ter, to incur disgrace. حرمت کرنا ḥurmat kar- nā, To treat respectfully, to honour. حرمت لينا ḥurmat lenā, 1. To violate, to ravish. 2. To disgrace.

حفاظت ḥifāz̤at A (from حفظ) s. f. 1. Memory. 2. Custody, guarding, keeping, preservation, care, guardianship, protection. حفاظت کرنا ḥifāz̤at karnā, 1. To preserve, to defend, to be on oneʼs guard. 2. To repeat from memory. 3. To keep in memory.

حالت ḥālat A s. f. 1. State, condition, cir- cumstance, posture of oneʼs affairs. 2. Case. (Plur. حالات ḥālāt).

حرارت ḥarārat A (from حرّ Heb. ) s. f. Heat, burning fever, warmth, ardour, fervour, fieriness; zeal. حرارت ديني ḥarārat-i-dīnī, s. f. Fanaticism. حرارت غريزي ḥarārat-i-g̠ẖarīzī, s. f. Natural heat.

حلوا ḥalwā A (from حلو) s. m. A kind of sweet- meat made of flour, ghī and sugar. حلوا سوهن ḥalwā-sohan, s. m. Name of a sweatmeat. حلوا نکالنا ḥalwā nikālnā, To beat severely.

حجر ḥajar A s. m. A stone. (Plur. احجار aḥjār). حجرتان ḥajratān, Gold and silver. حجرالاسود ḥa- jaru-l-aswad, s. m. The black stone in the tem- ple of Mecca. حجراليـﮩود ḥajaru-l-yahūd, s. m. A calcareous stone used in medicine, jewʼs-stone, resembling an olive or acorn, found in Palestine. (Helmintholithus judaicus: Lin. Helmintholi- thus echini b. a. Gmel.).

حسن ḥusn A s. m. Beauty, elegance, goodness. حسن اختيار ḥusn-i-iḵẖtiyār, Free will. حسن خلق ḥusn-i-ḵẖulḳ, A good disposition. حسن ظن ḥusn-i-z̤ann, s. m. A good opinion, a favourable judgment.

حنظل ḥanz̤al A s. Coloquinteda or bitter apple, colocynth.

حکاک ḥakkāk A (adj. superl. of حکّ) s. m. A cutter and polisher of precious stones.
