حادث ḥādis̤ A (from حدث Heb. Was new, existed for the first time) adj. New, just ap- pearing. حادث هونا ḥādis̤ honā, To appear, to emerge, to happen, to occur.

حماما ḥamāmā A s. Amomum.

حباب ḥubāb A (or ḥabāb), s. m. A bubble. حباب اٿهنا ḥubāb uṭhnā, To bubble.

حمامي ḥammām-ī A s. m. A keeper of a bath or an attendant at a bath.

حلواٴي ḥalwā-ī A (from حلوا) s. m. A confec- tioner. A. H. حلواين ḥalwā-yan, s. f. A confectionerʼs wife.

حد ḥadd A s. f. 1. Boundary, limit, bounds, extreme, extremity. 2. An impediment. 3. A definition. 4. A starting-post. 5. Punish- ment agreeable to the laws of Muhammad, which fix the exact number of lashes, &c. to be inflicted for certain crimes. Also, same as ازحد az ḥadd or حدسي ḥadd se or حدسي افزون ḥadd se afzūn or حدسي زياد ḥadd se ziyād or حد سي زياده ḥadd se ziyāda, Beyond bounds, extremely. حد باندهنا ḥadd bāndhnā, To bound, to terminate. حد بهر کرنا ḥadd bhar karnā, To do oneʼs best. حد کرنا ḥadd karnā, To push any thing to extremity, to go beyond bounds. حد مارنا ḥadd mārnā, To punish.

حوصله ḥauṣila A (proper. ḥauṣala, from حصل) s. m. 1. The stomach, maw, crop, craw. 2. (met.) Capacity, ambition, spirit, desire, resolu- tion. حوصله داري ḥauṣila-dār-ī, s. f. Capacity. حوصله مند ḥauṣila-mand, adj. Ambitious, as- piring.

حقيقتا ḥaḳīḳat-aṉ A adv. Really, truly, in truth, in reality.

حجامت ḥajāmat A (from حجم He cupped, &c.) s. f. Cupping, scarifying, shaving. A. H. حجامني ḥajjām-anī, s. f. (dakh.) Barberʼs wife.

حجتي ḥujjatī A. (from حجت) adj. used substantively. 1. A sound reasoner. 2. A disputatious person, a sophist, wrangler, caviller.
