حشر ḥashr A (Heb. ) s. f. 1. A meeting, congregation, concourse. 2. The resurrection. يوم الحشر yaumu-l-ḥashr, Day of resurrection. حشرخرام ḥashr-ḵẖirām, See محشرخرام under محشر maḥshar.

حرم ḥaram A 1. adj. (Heb. ) Sacred, for- bidden. 2. s. m. The temple of Mecca, a sanctuary. 3. s. f. A concubine. 4. A daugh- ter, womenʼs apartments, a seraglio, a harem.

حرب ḥarb A (Heb. ) s. f. War, battle. حرب گاه ḥarb-gāh, s. f. Field of battle.

حفاظت ḥifāz̤at A (from حفظ) s. f. 1. Memory. 2. Custody, guarding, keeping, preservation, care, guardianship, protection. حفاظت کرنا ḥifāz̤at karnā, 1. To preserve, to defend, to be on oneʼs guard. 2. To repeat from memory. 3. To keep in memory.

حيات ḥayāt A (from حيّ) s. f. Life. حيات تازه ḥayāt-i-tāza, New life, regeneration (used to ex- press recovery from severe illness, the pleasure derived from meeting with a friend, &c.).

حسين ḥasīn A (from حسن) adj. Beautiful.

حامله ḥāmila A (from حمل) adj. f. Pregnant. حامله هونا ḥāmila honā, To conceive, to be preg- nant.

حاضر ḥāẓir A (part. act. of حضور) adj. Present, ready, at hand, willing, content; the second person (in grammar). Plur. Arab. حاضرين ḥāẓirīn, Pers. حاضران ḥāẓirān, The people pre- sent. حاضر باش ḥāẓir-bāsh (be ready) adj. Content, attendant. حاضر باشي ḥāẓir-bāsh-ī, s. f. Constant attendance. حاضر جواب ḥāẓir- jawāb, adj. Pert, answering wittily, smart. حاضر جوابي ḥāẓir-jawāb-ī, s. f. Repartee. حاضر رهنا ḥāẓir rahnā, To attend, to wait on. حاضر ضامن ḥāẓir-ẓāmin, s. m. Bail security for the appearance of another, a bondsman. حاضر ضامني ḥāẓir-ẓāmin-ī, s. f. 1. The act of giving bail for another. 2. A bail-bond. حاضر و ناظر ḥāẓir-o-nāz̤ir, adj. Present and seeing. حاضر هونا ḥāẓir honā, To be at hand, to be ready, to consent.

حادق ḥādiḳ A (from حدق) adj. Ingenious, skil- ful, industrious, adept.

حيوان ḥaiwān A (from حيّ) s. m. An animal, a beast, brute. (Plur. حيوانات).
