حلم ḥilm A (from حلم He dreamt, was mild and long suffering. Heb. To be fat, healthy, to dream: or, rather, transposed from To indulge, to spare) s. m. Gentleness, clemency, mildness, affability, gravity, wisdom. بي حلم be ḥilm, adj. Merciless, severe.

حادثه ḥādis̤a A s. m. A novelty, incident, acci- dent, occurrence, event, adventure, calamity, misfortune.

حجاب ḥijāb A (from حجب) s. m. 1. Modesty, bashfulness, shame, concealment. 2. A veil, a curtain. 3. Night. حجاب اٿهنا ḥijāb uṭhnā, v. n. 1. To be lost (the sense of shame). 2. حقيقت ḥaḳīḳat A (from حقّ) s. f. 1. Truth, rightness, sincerity, reality, fact. 2. Account, narration, relation, story, state, condition, expla- nation.

حسام ḥusām A (from حسم) s. f. A sharp sword.

حاضراتي ḥāẓirāt-ī A s. f. Commanding evil spi rits, &c., a conjurer, exorciser.

حميت ḥamīyat A (from حما) s. f. Ardour, zeal, a nice sense of honour.

حضيض ḥaẓīẓ A (from حض) 1. adj. Low. 2. s. f. The lower extremity or surface of any thing. 3. The foot of a mountain. 4. (in astronomy) The lower apsis in an eccentrick orbit (opposed to اوج auj).

حر ḥurr A (Heb. and Chald. ) adj. Free, well born, genteelly born. ¶ ḥarr, s. Heat, ardour.

حله ḥalla H (perhaps for Arab. حمله) s. m. Assault, onset, attack, storm. حله کرنا ḥalla karnā, To assault, storm, attack.
