چنوٿي chunauṭī H s. f. 1. Encouraging troops in the time of battle (for which purpose there is an officer in Indian armies). 2. Selecting from an army the fittest men for a desperate enterprise. 3. A practice which formerly pre- vailed at Benares. (On the 11th of Jeṭh, shukl-paksh̤, the inhabitants were wont to swim across the river, and forming themselves into two parties, to fight with swords, clubs, &c.).

چلاچلي chalāchalī S̱. (चलाचल) s. f. The bustle of setting out on a journey, &c., setting about any thing.

چوسني chūsnī चूषणीय S̱. s. f. Childʼs coral, a sucking-stick for children.

چونان chūn-ān P adv. Like that, as if.

چٿ زيره chaṭ-zīra H s. m. The name of a tree.

چيچک chechak T. s. f. The smallpox.

چيني chīn-ī H s. f. Sugar (coarse; being, per- haps, so named from چين chīn, China, whence it might have been first brought to India; as, sugar-candy is called مصري miṣr-ī apparently from مصر miṣr, Egypt).
