استفہام istifhām A (inf. x. of فہم) s. m. Desiring or seeking information; inquiry, interrogation. حرف استفہام ḥarf-i-istifhām, An interrogative pronoun.

اشد ashadd A adj. compar. (of شدید) More or most vehement, severe, strong, extreme.

اپچهرا apchharā अप्सरा S̱. s. f. A female dancer in the court of Indra. See اپسرا apsarā.

المک उल्मुक ulmuk S s. m. Firebrand, wood burning or burnt, as charcoal. A.P. المناک alam-nāk, adj. Full of pain or grief, afflicted.

انوٿ anwaṭ H s. m. A ring furnished with little balls and worn on the great toe.

اوني ūn-ī S̱. (from اون ūn) adj. Woollen.

آئين āʼīn P s. m. Regulation, institute, statute, rules, common law (the laws delivered by Mu- hammad being called شرع sharﻌ, and those established by princes, آئين ā-īn), custom, manner.

اتهہ अर्थ arth S s. m. 1. Meaning, signification, acceptation. 2. Intention, design, motive. 3. Cause, sake. 4. Property, wealth, substance. تپسیارتهہ तपस्यार्थ tapasyārth, For devotionʼs sake, for devotional purposes.

استوار ustuwār P adj. Firm, strong, stable, powerful; brave, resolute, solid.
