چمڙاهٿ chimṛā-haṭ H s. f. Toughness, flexi- bility.

چوپ chop H s. f. Desire, wish, hope. See چونپ chomp.

چراغي chirāg̠ẖ-ī P s. f. 1. A present made to the Mullā for offering up oblations at the tomb of a saint. 2. Alms given to beggars who walk the streets at night as the class called Naḳshbandī. 3. Present to soothsayers.

چمن chaman P s. m. A bed in a garden, a parterre. چمن بند chaman-band, s. m. A gardener. چمن بندي کرنا chaman-bandī karnā, To lay out a garden. چمن دهر chaman-i-dahr, Terrestrial abode. چمن زار chaman-zār, Mea- dow.

چوز chūz P s. m. A young hawk under a year old, a hawk that has not hunted.

چنوٿي chunauṭī H s. f. 1. Encouraging troops in the time of battle (for which purpose there is an officer in Indian armies). 2. Selecting from an army the fittest men for a desperate enterprise. 3. A practice which formerly pre- vailed at Benares. (On the 11th of Jeṭh, shukl-paksh̤, the inhabitants were wont to swim across the river, and forming themselves into two parties, to fight with swords, clubs, &c.).

چور चोर chor S s. m. A thief, a robber. چور بالو chor-bālū, s. f. A quicksand. چور پـﮩرا chor- pahrā, or چور پهره chor-phara (dakh.) Trap-door. چور ڐهور chor ḍhor, s. m. 1. Plaintiff and defendant. 2. All the parties of a lawsuit. 3. A thief and what he has stolen. چور زمين chor-zamīn, A quagmire, bog. چور سيڙهي chor-sīṛhī, s. f. Backstairs. چور کهڙکي chor-khiṛkī, s. f. A back- door, a by-door. چور گلي chor-galī, s. f. A by- road, back-lane. چورلگنا chor lagnā, v. n. To be injured, to damage. چورلگنا شمع کو chor lagnā shamﻌ ko, To waste, a candle, by a thief being attached to it. چور محل chor-maḥall, s. m. The apartments of the concubines of great men. چور مندورا chor-mandūrā, s. m. A game played by children. چور مـﮩيچني chor-mahīchnī, s. f. Hide and seek.

چهبيلا chhab-īlā S̱. (from छवि) adj. Handsome, comely, graceful.

چـﮩلـﮩ‍‍ا chihlahā H (from چـﮩ‍لا chihlā) adj. Splashy, muddy, slimy.
