چهپکا chhipkā H s. m. Sprinkling.

چهوڙا chhoṛā S̱. (from چهوڙنا) s. m. Release, omission, leaving, sparing, letting go.

چ che or chīm, called also jīm-i-fārsī or jīm-i-aﻌjamī, the seventh letter of the Persian alphabet, sounds like ch in the English word cheek. It does not occur in Arabic. If used to denote a number, according to the abjad, it stands for 3, like ج (jīm). The permutations of the letter چ are the following; into ژ as کاژ for کاچ Glass, a pine tree; into ز as پزشک pizishk for پچشک pichishk, A physician or apothecary; into ش as کاشي for کاچي Made of glass; into ج as کاج for کاچ; and, arabistically, into ص as صين for چين China. This letter corresponds to च in Sanskrit, and when aspirated, or with ه affixed, to छ.

چهنٿاو chhanṭāʼo H s. m. 1. Detachment on fo- rage. 2. Beating rice to clear it from the husk.

چٿي chaṭṭī H s. f. Scarcity, want.

چرسي churs-ī H adj. (dakh.) Invidious, inimical.

چهند chhand S 1. (छन्दः) s. m. Measure of verses; a measure (in musick). 2. (छन्द) s. Meaning, intention, purport, opinion: wish, de- sire. adj. Solitary, secret, private.

چاٴين chāʼīṅ H s. m. 1. Name of a low class of Hindūs. 2. Seed of tamarind. 3. or چاٴين چوٴين chāʼīṅ chūʼīṅ, s. f. Scaldhead.

چترا चित्रा chitrā S s. f. Name of the fourteenth mansion of the moon. (Spica Virginis).

چوزا chūzā P s. m. A kite, or the same as چوزه chūza, q. v.
