چتي chittī चित्र S̱. s. f. 1. A scar, a spot, freckle, &c. 2. A kind of serpent. 3. A kauṛī worn smooth with rubbing. چتي دار chittī-dār, adj. Speckled. چتي لانا chittī lānā, To scar.

چکا chakkā S̱. 1. s. m. Coagulated milk, curd. 2. A carriage wheel, a circle, round. (Sans. चक्र). 3. adj. Thick (as dahī, &c.). See چکان chakkān. H.S̱. چکاٿي جانا chakāṭe jānā, v. n. (dakh.) To be in amazement or astonishment.

چپڙاها chipṛāhā H adj. Bleared (as eyes).

چرچيلا charchelā S̱. (from چرچا) s. m. A chat- terer, a prater.

چهانٿنا chhānṭnā H v. a. 1. To pare, clip, prune, lop, crop, trim, dress, clean, select. 2. To se- parate the husk from grain by pounding it in a mortar, to husk. 3. To vomit.

چپهال chaphāl H s. A place surrounded with marshes and mire.

چومک پتهر chūmak-patthar S̱. s. m. A magnet. See چنبک chumbak.

چهتري chhitrī H s. f. A small basket without lid or handle.

چشم chashm P s. f. m. 1. The eye. 2. Hope, expectation. آهوچشم āhū-chashm, Fawn-eyed, soft-eyed (an epithet expressive of beauty). چشم بد دور chashm-i-bad dūr, Avaunt malicious glances! چشم براه هونا chashm-ba-rāh honā, To wait for, to expect. چشم بسته chashm-basta, adj. With the eye closed. چشم بيمار chashm- i-bīmār, s. m. An eye that looks half closed (from modesty, an epithet applied to beauty). چشم پوشي chashm-posh-ī, s. f. Turning away the eyes, affecting not to see or hear a petitioner, &c. connivance. چشم تر chashm-i-tar, s. m. Weeper. چشم تري chashm-tarī, s. f. Moist eyes, full eyes, weeping. چشم خانه chashm- ḵẖāna, The socket of the eye. چشم خون آلود chashm-i-ḵẖūn-ālūd, Fiery eyes, eyes filled with blood, murderous looks. چشم داشت chashm- dāsht, s. f, Hope, confidence. چشم زخم chashm- zaḵẖm, s. m. The look of an evil eye; a mis- fortune. چشم نماٴي chashm-numā-ī, s. f. Re- proof. چشم وچراغ chashm-o-chirāg̠ẖ, Dearly beloved.

چنان چنين chunān-chunīn P adv. In this and that manner; (met.) evasion, subterfuge.
