جـﮩ‍ان jahāṅ H (or dakh. jhāṅ for Sans. यत्र) adv. Where, in which place, which place. جـﮩ‍ان تک jahāṅ tak, As far as. جـﮩ‍ان تـﮩ‍ان jahāṅ tahāṅ, Here and there, every where. جـﮩ‍ان تـﮩ‍ان پهرنا jahāṅ tāhaṅ phirnā, To straggle, to wander. جـﮩ‍ان کا تـﮩ‍ان jahāṅ kā tahāṅ, In the same place as before. جـﮩ‍ان جـﮩ‍ان jahāṅ jahāṅ, adv. Wher- ever. جـﮩ‍ان سي jahāṅ se, Whence, from which place. جـﮩ‍ان کـﮩ‍ان jahāṅ kahāṅ, Here and there, every where. جـﮩ‍ان کـﮩ‍ين jahāṅ kahīṅ, adv. Wherever.

جاني jān-ī P adj. Of life, of the heart or soul, cor- dial, hearty, dear, beloved; (substantively) a lover, a friend. جاني دشمن jānī-dushman, An enemy desirous of oneʼs life, a mortal enemy.

جهينگا jhīngā H 1. s. f. A shrimp, a prawn. 2. s. m. Cucumis acutangulus: Linn. Luffa acu- tangula: Roxb.

جهلکانا jhulkānā S̱. (s. ज्वलका Flame) v. a. To scorch, to singe (as, the small feathers of a pluck- ed fowl).

جهر jhar H s. f. 1. Heavy rain. 2. The heat from a fire. جهربرنا jhar barnā, To burn, to be all in flames.

جارل jāral H s. m. A kind of wood. (Lager- strœmia flos reginæ).

جاجک jājak H s. m. A player on cymbals or on the tabour.

جوگي योगी jog-ī S s. m. 1. A Hindū faḳīr, a devotee. 2. A cast of Hindūs who are com- monly weavers. (The people of this cast do not burn, but bury their dead; and, the women are sometimes buried alive with their husbandʼs corpse).
