جلانا jalānā S̱. (ज्वालन or caus. of جلنا) v. a. To burn, to kindle, to inflame, to fire, to light, to make jealous.

جهجنا jhijnā H v. n. (dakh. i. q. لاغرهونا) To be or become lean or emaciated.

جميل jamīl A (from جمال) adj. Beautiful, ele- gant. (Fem. جميله jamīla).

جفا jafā P s. f. Oppression, violence, injury, in- justice. جفاپيشه jafā-pesha, or جفاجو jafā-jū, or جفاشعار jafā-shiʼāﻌr, or جفاکار jafā-kār, adj. Op- pressive, unjust, cruel; subst. Oppressor, tyrant. جفاکاري jafākār-ī, s. f. Oppression, tyranny.

جبلي jibillī A adj. Natural, innate, essential, in general.

جگري jigar-ī P adj. 1. Belonging to the liver or heart, hepatick. 2. Liver-coloured. عقيق جگري aﻌḳīḳ-i-jigarī, Carnelion. جگري داغ jigarī-dāg̠ẖ, s. m. 1. Indelible stain or mark. 2. Natural spot. 3. Inconsolable grief.

جنگا مشتي jang-ā-mushtī P. (comp. of جنگ and مشت) s. f. Boxing.

جاگير jā-gīr P s. f. Land given by government as a reward for services, or as a fee; a pension (in land), a fief. جاگيردار jāgīr-dār, s. m. The holder of a fee or jāgīr, a feoffee.

جهونڐي jhūnḍī H s. f. A clump of grass.

جکهني jakhanī यक्षिणी S̱. s. f. 1. Wife of a جکهـ jakh, q. v. 2. A sort of female fiend, at- tached to the service of Durgā, and frequently maintaining, like a sylph or fairy, an intercourse with mortals.
