جهول jhūl A. (corrupt. of جل jull) s. f. Body- clothes of cattle, housings, a bag, a wallet, a knapsack.

جولان jaulān P s. m. Moving about (in the place of exercise), coursing, springing, wandering. جولان کرنا jaulān karnā, To make to spring or move about. جولانگاه jaulān-gāh, s. f. Place of exercise (especially, of an army or of horses). جولانگري jaulān-gar-ī, s. f. Galloping fast, fleetness.

جڙ jaṛ S̱. 1 (for जटा) s. f. A root, origin, foun- dation, base, basis. 2. (for जड) s. m. An in- animate body, what is void of life, a blockhead, idiot, dolt. جڙکا بهيد jaṛ kā bhed, Essence.

جهومک jhūmak H s. f. An assembly, a ball; (met.) a battle, an engagement.

جهک جهوري jhakjhorī H s. f. Scrambling and wrangling, snatching.

جوا jawā H s. m. 1. A clove of garlick. 2. A kind of stitch in needlework. جوي دار jawe-dār, Sewed in a particular manner.

جوبنوتي joban-watī यौवनवती S̱. adj. f. At the age of puberty, fit to be married, youthful.

جنگله jangala S (जंगल) s. m. A forest, a wood. جنگل بري jangal-burī, s. f. Act of clearing woodlands. جنگل پهرنا يا جانا jangal- phirnā, or -jānā (lit. To walk in or go to the wood) v. n. To ease oneʼs self.

جان jān P s. f. m. 1. Life, soul, spirit, mind, self. 2. A sweetheart. 3. (met.) adj. Dear, beloved. جان آفرين jān-āfarīn, Animator, creator of life (an epithet of God). جانباز jān-bāz or جان باخته jān-bāḵẖta, adj. Risking life, venturesome, da- ring, intrepid, spirited, mettled, mettlesome. جانبازي jān-bāz-ī, s. f. Risking life (in battle, &c.), intrepidity, mettle, spiritedness, working at any thing as if life depended on success. جان بازي کرنا jān-bāz-ī karnā, To risk life in a business. جان بحق تسليم هونا jān ba-ḥaḳḳ taslīm honā, To die, expire. جان بخش jān-baḵẖsh, Animating, lifegiving, forgiver of a capital crime. جان بخشي jān-baḵẖsh-ī, s. f.
