جمانا jimānā जेमन S̱. v. a. To feed, to enter- tain.

جهاٴين jhāʼīṅ छाया S̱. s. f. 1. Shadow. 2. A freckle, or black mark on the face (not a mole).

جاگتي جوت jāgtī-jot जायत्ज्योतिः S̱. adj. Possessed of or exerting miraculous power. S. جاگرن जागरण (r. जागृ Wake) jāgaraṇ, s. m. Vigil, waking, wakefulness (in a religious ceremony or prayer), vespers.

جم jam S (यम) s. m. The regent of worlds below; or death, and judge of departed souls. جم دوت यमदूत jam-dūt, Messenger of Jam or of death. جم ديا jam-diyā (यमदीप) s. m. A candle or illumination sacred to Jam, lighted on the 13th of kārtik, kr̤ishṇ paksh̤, i. e. three days before the dewālī.

جهنک jhanak झणत् S̱. s. f. Ringing, tink- ling, clinking, tingling, clank, gingle.

جام jām P s. m. 1. A goblet, cup, glass, any vessel for drinking out of, a bowl. 2. A mirror. جام جم يا جمشيد jām-i-jam or -jamshīd, s. m. The mirror of Jamshīd, in which he saw what- ever he wished. جام جـﮩ‍ان نما jām-i-jahān-numā, A pharos. جام لب ريز jām-i-lab-rez, A bumper.

جيـﮩر jehar H s. m. Name of an ornament for fe- males.

جهولا jhūlā S̱. (see جهولنا jhūlnā) s. m. A swing, the rope on which people swing.

جهکاجهک jhakā-jhak H adj. Shining, glittering with gold and silver, &c. brocade.

جل jull A s. f. A housing or covering for an ele- phant, bullock, &c.
