جواب jawāb : جواب jawāb A s. m. An answer, reply, any thing answering to another. جواب باصواب jawāb-i-bā-ṣawāb, s. m. A proper answer. جواب بالا jawāb-bālā, A kind of benediction (i. e. may your advice prevail). جواب ده jawāb-dih, An- swerer; adj. Amenable, accountable, responsi- ble, answerable. جواب دينا jawāb-denā, 1. To be accountable for, to be amenable or responsi- ble, to reply, to answer, to give an answer or account (of any commission, &c.). 2. To dis- charge, disband, to dismiss one from his office. جواب سوال jawāb suwāl, s. m. Altercation, conversation. جواب سوالي jawāb-suwāl-ī, s. m. Re- ply, rejoinder. جواب قطعي jawāb-i-ḳat̤ʼīﻌ, s. m. A definitive answer. جواب ملنا jawāb milnā, To be dismissed or discharged. جوات نامه ja- wāb-nāma, s. m. A writing fixed to the winding sheet, on the breast of the deceased, which it is intended that Munkar and Nakīr should read, in case the poor soul should be too much flurried to answer their questions. جهڙجهڙانا jhaṛjhaṛānā H v. n. To shake, to jerk. ¶ jhiṛjhiṛānā, v. n. To rage, rail, storm.

جني jinn-ī A s. m. f. An aerial spirit, one of the race of the genii. (Plur. جنيات jinniyāt).

جڙنا juṛnā S̱. (r. जुड Join) v. n. To be joined.

جنڐول chanḍol H s. m. 1. (corrupt. of چنڐاول chanḍāwal) The rear-guard. 2. A sort of se- dan. 3. The name of a bird. 4. A plaything consisting of four little earthen pots joined together.

جبا jubā S (युवा) adj. Young.

جڙ jaṛ S̱. 1 (for जटा) s. f. A root, origin, foun- dation, base, basis. 2. (for जड) s. m. An in- animate body, what is void of life, a blockhead, idiot, dolt. جڙکا بهيد jaṛ kā bhed, Essence.

جنگله jangala S (जंगल) s. m. A forest, a wood. جنگل بري jangal-burī, s. f. Act of clearing woodlands. جنگل پهرنا يا جانا jangal- phirnā, or -jānā (lit. To walk in or go to the wood) v. n. To ease oneʼs self.

جکهني jakhanī यक्षिणी S̱. s. f. 1. Wife of a جکهـ jakh, q. v. 2. A sort of female fiend, at- tached to the service of Durgā, and frequently maintaining, like a sylph or fairy, an intercourse with mortals.
