شق shaḳḳ A (Heb. To run about) s. m. 1. Trouble, labour, suspense. 2. Dawn of day. 3. A fissure, crack, rent, cleft. شق القمر shaḳḳu-l-ḳamar, Splitting of the moon. شق هونا shaḳḳ honā, To be torn, to be split, rent, &c. ¶ shiḳḳ, s. f. The half of a thing, the side of a mountain, a brother, a friend, difficulty.
