شطاح shat̤t̤āḥ A adj. (superl. of شطح) Meretri- cious, lascivious, obscene. See شتاه.

شفاعت shafāʼāﻌt A (from شفع) s. f. Depreca- tion, intercession, recommendation, entreaty. شفاعت کرنا shafāʼaﻌt karnā, To intercede, de- precate.

شجر shajar A (perhaps from Heb. Offspring, issuing forth, springing up. Plur. اشجار) s. m. A tree, a plant. A.P. شجرنامه shajar-nāma, s. m. A list of saints, or holy predecessors (in the manner of a genealogical tree) given to disciples.

شاکي shākī A 1. part. act. (of شکو) Complaining, querulous. 2. s. m. A complainer, a backbiter censurer, murmurer.

شحنه shaḥna A (or shiḥna, from شحن To drive away, to propel) s. m. 1. A viceroy, lieutenant, representative, superintendent of police. 2. A peon, or servant of a tax-gatherer.

شرب shurb A s. m. Drinking, drink, beverage.

شباشب shab-ā-shab P adv. In the night time, during the night.

شل shall A (Heb. To plunder, to spoil) adj. One who can take nothing in his hands (from sickness), paralytick, having the hand luxated or withered.
