اوردهپنڐ ūrdh-punḍ S̱. (ऊर्द्ध High, and पुंड् Mark or line made on the forehead with sandal, &c.)

ترپنڐ tripunḍ त्रिपुंड़ S̱. s. m. Three curved horizontal marks made across the forehead by the followers of Siva and Sakti.

نپنسک नपुंसक napunsak S adj. Neuter (gen- der), unmanly, coward. s. m. An herma- phrodite, eunuch.

پن pun S̱. 1. (or puni for पुनः) adv. Again, but, on the contrary. 2. (or punya for पुण्य) s. m. Virtue, moral or religious merit. See پنياٴي punyāʼī.

پنا punnā H v. a. To abuse.

پنج पुंज punj S s. m. A heap, quantity, collec- tion.

پنربس पुनर्वसु punarbasu S s. m. The seventh mansion of the moon, Castor and Pollux.

پنم punam पुण्य S̱. s. m. (dakh.) Moral or re- ligious merit. ¶ punim (पूर्णिमा) Full moon.

پنوانا punwānā H (caus. of پنا punnā) v. a. To cause to be abused or reproached by another.

پنيا punyā S̱. (पुण्याह A holiday) s. f. The com- mencement of collection for the new year. (Used by landholders).

پنياٴي punyāʼī S̱. (from पुण्य) s. f. 1. A vir- tuous action, performed (according to those who hold the doctrine of the metempsychosis) in one state of existence, the reward of which is received in a future transmigration. 2. Merit of an ancestor rewarded in his descendants.

پنيت punīt पुणित S̱. adj. Pure, clean.
