بنات النعش banātu-n-naﻌsh A s. m. The constel- lation of the Greater or Lesser Bear, consisting of seven stars; four of which are conceived to bear the resemblance of a bier (نعش), and the remaining three to be the (بنات) daughters pre- ceding it.

مصنع muṣannaﻌ A (part. pass. II. of صنع) adj. Factitious, artificial.

مقنع maḳnaﻌ A prop. miḳnaﻌ (noun of instr. from قنع) s. m. A veil of muslin or other cloth worn over the head and reaching almost to the ground. (Chiefly, applied to a brideʼs veil).

ممتنع mumtanaﻌ A (part. pass. VIII. of منع Heb. and Chald. ) adj. Prohibited, for- bidden, impossible.

نعت naﻌt A s. f. 1. Praise (especially, of Mu- ḥammad), eulogium. 2. An epithet. 3. An adjective noun.

نعره naﻌra A s. m. Clamour, crying, noise, shout.

نعش naﻌsh A s. f. 1. A bier, a coffin. 2. A litter on which a sick person is carried. بنات النعش banātu-n-naﻌsh, The constellation of the bear.

نعل naﻌl A (Heb. and Aram. ) s. m. 1. Shoe (of a horse or man). 2. The ferrule at the end of a scabbard. 3. A hoof. 4. A wife. نعل بند naﻌl-band, A blacksmith who shoes horses, a farrier. نعل بندي naﻌl-band-ī, s. f. 1. Shoeing, giving a horse new shoes, in opposition to khol-bandī, which means changing a horseʼs shoes. 2. A light tribute.

نعلين naﻌlain A s. dual. (of نعل) A pair of shoes of a particular kind, i. e. with wooden soles.

نعما naﻌmā A s. See نعمت niﻌmat.

نعناع naﻌnāﻌ A s. m. Mint. (Mentha sativa).
