جـﮩيز jahez A. s. m. A brideʼs portion, whatever a wife carries with her to her husbandʼs house, dower, paraphernalia.

دهيز dihez A. or dahez (corrupt. of جـﮩ‍از) s. m. A dowry, a portion, every thing a wife carries with her to her husband, paraphernalia.

هيزم hezam P s. f. Firewood. هيزم فروش hezam- farosh, A wood-merchant. هيزم کش hezam- kash, A woodman, or wood-cutter.

پرهيز parhez P (from پرهيختن or پرهيزيدن) s.m. Ab- stinence, forbearance, continence, abstaining or keeping aloof, control of the passions, caution, sobriety. بدي پرهيز badī-parhez, Abstaining from evil. پرهيزکرنا parhez karnā, v. a. 1. To control oneʼs passions. 2. To abstain (from), to keep aloof, or be on oneʼs guard (from), to avoid. 3. To observe a regimen.

پرهيزي parhez-ī P adj. 1. Fit for a person under a regimen. 2. Same as پرهيزگار q. v.

پرهيزگار parhez-gār P adj. and subst. Abstinent, one who controls his passions, continent, abste- mious, sober.

پرهيزگاري parhezgār-ī P s. f. Abstinence, control of the passions.
