دهما چوکڙي dhamā chaukṛī H s. f. Noise, tu- mult, bustle.

چوک chauk H s. m. 1. A market. 2. A square of a city. 3. A court-yard. 4. A square place filled, at marriages and on other occasions of rejoicing, with sweetmeats, which after certain ceremonies are distributed. چوک بهرنا يا پورنا chauk-bharnā or -pūrnā, To fill a chauk or square with coloured meal, perfumes, sweet- meats, &c. on some occasion of rejoicing. چوک پٿا chauk-paṭṭā, A seat on which the people sit and eat in the chaukā.

چوکا chaukā H s. m. 1. The space in which Hindūs dress or eat their victuals. 2. A square slate of marble, &c. a square space of ground. 3. The four front teeth. 4. The cube of a measure called بانس bāṅs, q. v.

چوکس chaukas H adj. 1. Cautious, watchful, ac- curate, diligent, active, clever, alert, circumspect, intelligent. 2. Full weight.

چوکساٴي chaukasāʼī H s. f. Attention, circum- spection, watchfulness, alertness, caution.

چوکسي chaukas-ī H s. f. 1. Watching, diligence, attention. 2. Four people employed together, or eating out of the same dish or plate.

چوکنا chaukannā H adj. Cautious, alert, circum- spect, sly, on oneʼs guard, wary.

چوکهٿ chaukhaṭ चतुष्काष्ठ S̱. s. m. f. 1. Frame of a door, door. 2. The upper and lower piece of the frame of a door.

چوکي chaukī H s. f. 1. A frame to sit on, a stool, bench. 2. Guard or watch, watching. 3. The post where a guard is stationed. 4. An orna- ment worn on the breast. چوکيدار chaukī-dār, 1. adj. Keeping guard. 2. s. m. A watchman. چوکيداري chaukīdār-ī, s. f. 1. The business of a watchman. 2. The pay or hire of a watchman. چوکي دينا chaukī denā, To watch, guard, mount guard. چوکي مارنا chaukī mārnā, To smuggle.

چوکڙي chaukaṛī H s. f. 1. A bound, a spring, a bounce. 2. (s̱. see چوکڙا) A ring of pearls worn by men in the ears. چوکڙي بهرنا chaukaṛī bharnā, To leap, bound, bounce. چوکڙي بهولنا chaukaṛī bhūlnā, To forget oneʼs bound, i. e. to be fascinated, to have oneʼs senses benumbed. چوکڙي مار بيٿهنا chaukaṛī mār baiṭhnā, To squat.
