ابٿ ubaṭ S̱. or ubṭi, (उद्वर्त्तन) s. m. See اپٿن upṭan.

ابٿنا ubaṭnā उद्वर्त्तन S̱. v. a. To rub on the body a detergent application, called اپٿن upṭan.

اسبق asbaḳ A adj. compar. (from سبق He out- stripped) More or most surpassing or excellent; past times, days of yore.

اوبٿ au-baṭ S̱. or ūbaṭ (perhaps, from अव q. v. and वाट Way, or for اوگهٿ aughaṭ, q. v.) adj. Impassable, steep, inaccessible, devious.

اڙبڙ aṛbaṛ H s. m. Words without meaning. adj. Uneven, rugged. اڙبڙبکنا aṛbaṛ baknā, v. a. To speak inconsiderately or without meaning, to rave, talk absurdly, babble.

اڙبڙنگ aṛbaṛang H s. m. Foolish actions.

اڙبڙنگي aṛbaṛang-ī H adj. Inconsiderate. H. S̱. اڙبند aṛband, s. m. A cloth worn by Hindūs, passing from the waist between the thighs and fastening behind.

بجربٿو bajr-baṭṭū H s. m. Name of a fruit.

بحاث baḥḥās̤ A adj. superl. (from بحث) A great disputer, controvertist, arguer.

بحث baḥs̤ A s. f. Inquiry, discussion, alterca- tion, controversy, debate, dispute, argumenta- tion, argument.

بحثابحثي baḥs̤-ā-baḥs̤-ī A. s. f. Controversy, dis- cussion, argumentation. A.H. بحثنا baḥas̤nā (from بحث) v. a. To argue, dispute, debate, talk. P.A. بحدي ba-hadd-e, To such an extreme; to such a degree.

بحري baḥr-ī A 1. adj. Maritime, belonging to the sea, naval. 2. h. s. f. For بهري bahrī, q. v. A falcon, &c. P.A. بحسب ba-ḥasb, In the proportion, according to. P.A. بحکم ba-ḥukm, By command, by authority, &c.

بخت baḵẖt P s. m. Fortune, luck, prosperity, felicity. بخت آزمائي baḵẖt-āzmā-ī, s. f. Trial of fortune. بخت بازي baḵẖt-bāz-ī, s. f. Playing with fortune, trying oneʼs luck, chance. بخت بلي baḵẖt-balī, adj. Lucky, fortunate. بخت جلنا baḵẖt-jalnā, To lose oneʼs luck, to become unfortunate. بخت تيره baḵẖt-i-tīra or بخت سياه baḵẖt-i-siyāh, Misfortune.

بختاور baḵẖt-āwar P adj. Fortunate, lucky.
