تعليق taﻌlīḳ A (inf. ii. of علق) s. f. 1. A kind of writing used by the Persians. 2. Suspension. 3. Delaying.

تعليقه taﻌlīḳa A (from علق) s. m. An inventory.

تعليل taﻌlīl A (inf. ii. of علت) s. f. 1. Causing one to make an excuse, occasioning. 2. Changing one of the weak letters for another (in gram- mar). Plur. تعليلات.

تعليم taﻌlīm A (inf. ii. of علم) s. f. 1. Teaching, instruction, tuition. 2. Copying fine, writing accurately. تعليم کرنا taﻌlīm karnā, To teach.

صل عليٰ ṣall-aﻌlā A Blessed; very fine. See صليٰ الله عليه under صليٰ ṣallạ̄.

علا aﻌlā A s. m. Glory, sublimity, exaltation, su- periority.

علاقه aﻌlāḳa H or vulg. iﻌlāḳa (from علق) s. m. 1. Dependence, relation, connexion, interest. 2. Pretension, right. 3. Commerce, correspon- dence, communication, intercourse. علاقه بند aﻌlāḳa-band, A gold-lace worker. علاقه بندي aﻌlāḳa-band-ī, s. f. Gold-lace work. علاقه رکهنا aﻌlāḳa-rakhnā, To concern, interest, be connect- ed, belong, regard, relate (to). علاقه مند aﻌlāḳa- mand, adj. Dependant, related, connected. (Plur. علايق aﻌlāʼịḳ).

علامت aﻌlāmat A s. f. A mark, sign, symptom, coat of arms, ensign, emblem. (Plur. علامات).

علاوه aﻌlāwa A (from علا) adv. Besides, moreover.

علي aﻌlī A adj. High, eminent, noble; a proper name, especially of Muḥammadʼs son-in-law. ¶ aﻌlạ̄, adv. On, upon, according to, above, to, near. علي الاتصال aﻌlạ-l-ittiṣāl, Continually, without intermission. علي الاطلاق aﻌlạ-l-it̤lāḳ, Absolutely, solely. علي الخصوص aﻌlạ-l-ḵẖuṣūṣ, In particular. علي الدوام aﻌlạ-d-dawām, In per- petuity, for ever. علي الرغم aﻌlạ-r-rag̠ẖm, In spite, in opposition. علي الصباح aﻌlạ-ṣ-ṣabāḥ, In the morning. علي هذا القياس aﻌlạ hāẕa-l-ḳiyās, On this measure, in like manner. عليه aﻌlaihi, On him. عليه الرحمه aﻌlaihi-r-raḥma, On him (be) the mercy (of God). عليه السلام aﻌlaihi-s- salām, Blessing on him! عليـﮩم aﻌlaihim, On them. ¶ aﻌlạ̄, s. عليحده aﻌlạ̄ḥida A. (prop. عليٰ حده aﻌlạ̄ ḥaddihi, On its own limit) adj. or adv. Separate, apart, distinct.

عليل aﻌlīl A (from علّت) adj. Weak, sick, indis- posed.

عليم aﻌlīm A adj. Wise, learned.

ناد علي nādi-aﻌlī A (for ناد عليّاً) Proclaim Aﻌlī or invoke Aﻌlī.
