حاضر ḥāẓir A (part. act. of حضور) adj. Present, ready, at hand, willing, content; the second person (in grammar). Plur. Arab. حاضرين ḥāẓirīn, Pers. حاضران ḥāẓirān, The people pre- sent. حاضر باش ḥāẓir-bāsh (be ready) adj. Content, attendant. حاضر باشي ḥāẓir-bāsh-ī, s. f. Constant attendance. حاضر جواب ḥāẓir- jawāb, adj. Pert, answering wittily, smart. حاضر جوابي ḥāẓir-jawāb-ī, s. f. Repartee. حاضر رهنا ḥāẓir rahnā, To attend, to wait on. حاضر ضامن ḥāẓir-ẓāmin, s. m. Bail security for the appearance of another, a bondsman. حاضر ضامني ḥāẓir-ẓāmin-ī, s. f. 1. The act of giving bail for another. 2. A bail-bond. حاضر و ناظر ḥāẓir-o-nāz̤ir, adj. Present and seeing. حاضر هونا ḥāẓir honā, To be at hand, to be ready, to consent.

حاضرات ḥāẓirāt A s. f. Commanding or impri- soning demons, &c., raising the devil.

حاضراتي ḥāẓirāt-ī A s. f. Commanding evil spi rits, &c., a conjurer, exorciser.

حاضري ḥāẓir-ī A s. f. 1. Breakfast, desert. 2. Levee, presence, audience, muster-roll. 3. An offering made to a saint. حاضري کهانا ḥāẓirī khānā, To breakfast.

ضد ẓidd A s. f. The contrary, the opposite, contrariety, opposition. ضد کرنا ẓidd karnā, To persist, persevere, contradict, to spite.

ضدي ẓidd-ī A. adj. Perverse, contrary.

ضراب ẓirāb A (from ضرب) 1. s. m. Fighting, fencing, conquering. 2. Coitus. ¶ ẓarrāb, A coiner, a mint-master.

ضلع ẓilﻌ A (Heb. ) s. m. 1. A side, part. 2. A district, a division. 3. A column (in the page of a book). 4. (in Hindūstān) The art of speaking with double meaning, so that the chain of both senses be uninterrupted through the dis- course. (This is called in Persian and Arabic تلازم کلام).

ضمن ẓimn A s. m. 1. The cover of a letter. 2. The contents, any thing comprehended, contained or inserted, subject, an idea, conception. 3. Suretiship, an obligation. 4. Aid, favour.

ضمنا ẓimnaṉ A adv. Comprehensively, by impli- cation, tacitly, by the by, by the way.

ضوا ẓiwā A s. f. Light, splendour, brilliancy, resplendence.

ضيا ẓiyā A s. f. Light, splendour, brilliancy, resplendence.

ضيافت ẓiyāfat A s. f. 1. A feast, a banquet, convivial entertainment. 2. Hospitality. 3. In- vitation. ضيافت کرنا ẓiyāfat karnā, To enter- tain, to feast, treat.

فاضل fāẓil A (part. act. of فضل) adj. 1. Excel- lent, learned, virtuous. 2. Abundant.

قضيه ḳaẓiya A (from قضي) s. m. 1. Declaration, proposition, determination. 2. History, nar- rative. 3. Death. 4. Natura fœminæ, vulva. 5. A syllogism (in logick). 6. (in Hind. and Pers.) A quarrel, wrangling, wrangle, conten- tion, broil, litigation, lawsuit, action at law. (Plur. قضايا). قضيه دلال ḳaẓiya-dallāl, One who excites quarrel, mischiefmaker. قضيه کرنا ḳaẓiya karnā, To quarrel, to wrangle. قضيه مول لينا ḳaẓiya mol lenā, To take on oneʼs self the quarrel of another, to interfere without cause in the disputes of others.
