اتصال ittiṣal A (inf. viii. of وصل) s. m. Conjunc- tion, contact, adhesion, union, continuity, attach- ment, neighbourhood, contiguity, adjacency.

بصل baṣal A s. f. An onion. P.A. بصورت ba-ṣūrat, In the manner, by the way.

صل عليٰ ṣall-aﻌlā A Blessed; very fine. See صليٰ الله عليه under صليٰ ṣallạ̄.

صلابت ṣalābat A (from صلب) s. f. Firmness, hardness, severity, majesty, dignity.

صلات ṣalāt A (from صلا Ch. and To pray) s. f. 1. Prayer, benediction. 2. The first chap- ter of the ḳurʼān.

صلاح ṣalāḥ A (from صلح Heb. To prosper) 1. s. f. Peace, concord, treaty. 2. Rectitude, in- tegrity, goodness of state or condition, prosperity. 3. Advice, counsel. 4. adj. Advisable. صلاح کرني ṣalāḥ karnī, To consult, advise, to take counsel together.

صلاحيت ṣalāḥiyat A (from صلح) s. f. Virtue, chastity, integrity, goodness, probity, sanctity.

صلب ṣalb A s. f. 1. (Ch. ) Crucifixion. 2. Burning. 3. Teasing, fretting, vexing. ¶ ṣulb, The loins; (met.) offspring.

صلعم ṣalaﻌm A A mysterious word (added often to the name of Maḥammad) formed from the ab- breviation of the following words, صلي الله عليه وسلم ṣallạ-l-lāh aﻌlaihi wa sallam, The blessing and peace of God be with him.

صلوات ṣalawāt A s. plur. (of صلوة) Prayers, bene- dictions.

صلوة ṣalāt A s. f. 1. Prayer, benediction. 2. Compassion or mercy of God.

صليب ṣalīb A (from صلب) 1. adj. Hard. 2. Three-cornered. 3. s. m. A crucifix, a cross.

صليٰ ṣallạ̄ A 3d pers. mas. sing. of past tense, He blessed or was merciful towards. صليٰ الله عليه ṣallạ-l-lāh aﻌlaihi, The blessing of God on him! صليٰ الله عليهم ṣallạ-l-lāh aﻌlaihim, The blessing of God be on them!

فيصل faiṣal A (from فصل) s. m. 1. Decision, de- cree, determination. 2. Division, separation. فيصل کرنا faiṣal karnā, To settle, to decide, to adjust. فيصل نامه faiṣal-nāma, s. m. A decree, an award. فيصل هونا faiṣal honā, To be de- cided or settled, to be adjusted.

فيصله faiṣala A (from فصل) s. m. A decree, set- tlement, decision, adjudication, adjustment.
